Addaset Paves The Way With Resin Surfacing on Cambridge Projects

Leading manufacturer of high quality resin surfacing systems, Addagrip has recently been specified to provide an attractive, porous surfacing solution for the exterior surfacing of the Gillespie Centre and the University Library, both in Cambridge.

Surfacing contractor John Cobb & Sons were offered the contract to install 800m² of 6mm Trent Pea Gravel Addaset to the forecourt of the University Library after specifiers were impressed with the results of the 6mm Derbyshire Cream Addaset installed at the 240m² site at the Gillespie Centre, a new conference facility built to the highest standards of sustainability.

Commenting on the use of Addaset for the two projects, John Cobb at John Cobb & Sons said, “ The existing surface at the Library was tarmacadam which had been there for many years, however re-surfacing the Library forecourt and grounds surrounding the Gillespie Centre meant a porous and aesthetic alternative was required. The University is extremely pleased with the result which has received both press and TV coverage.”

Addaset creates a homogenous surface by binding together a wide choice of natural aggregates that can be chosen to harmonise with the local surroundings, within a clear resin. Addaset is a cold applied, trowelled system that is laid to a smooth, slightly textured surface to provide an attractive and hardwearing seamless bound paving system that has a natural appearance with no loose stone.
